Common questions about open-source projects
What counts as an open-source project?
One entry type (kind=repo): AI projects on GitHub whose source you can use directly.
How is this different from the skills page?
The skills page lists capability packages an agent loads; this page lists project source you run yourself. One project can appear on both - two ways of using it, not a duplicate.
Where are categories such as Testing & QA or Marketing & growth?
Second level, not first: testing sits under Developer tools and ads / social under Social & marketing, each with its own page under /mcp-directory/. A top-level chip would count the same entries twice.
What we actually check
That the source link resolves, when we last saw it, whether a README exists, and the public star count. All four are checkable on the page itself.
