What we actually collect and what we do not — checkable against the server config.

This page states what we actually do. Each point can be checked against the server configuration — we do not collect what you did not offer.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts — no sign-up, no login, no profiles.
  • No tracking pixels — no third-party embeds.
  • No advertising — no ad network, so no advertiser cookies.
  • No third-party analytics — no Google Analytics or equivalent script.
  • No analytics cookies — none, apart from the language preference below.

What we log

  • Access logs (standard nginx): IP, user agent, path, time, status code. The purpose is counting what search engine crawlers fetched, not profiling you.
  • Retention: logs rotate daily and are kept for 10 days (logrotate rotate 10).
  • Not joined to anything: we do not build IP-to-person profiles and we do not sell logs.

Cookies

There is exactly one cookie: lang, holding your language choice (zh or en), one year, SameSite=Lax. It carries no identifier.

Language is decided mainly by the URL (/zh/ Chinese, /en/ English). The cookie only affects the redirect when you open the root path.

Submission form

The submit form stores the URL, name, one-line note and optional email in our own pending review queue. That data is used only to decide whether to list the entry; your email is never published.

Email

Subscriber addresses are used only to send catalogue updates. Every message carries an unsubscribe route; unsubscribing deletes the address.

Third parties

Links to tools go straight to the other site — their privacy policy applies from there. We add no tracking parameters to those links.

Your choices

  • Delete the lang cookie: language falls back to path/IP.
  • To have log lines tied to your IP removed, or to unsubscribe, email david@anclum.com.
