Getting going is easier than you think. Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Download the Application

Step 2: Open the App
Once downloaded, double-click the file to open claude-vault. On Windows, you may see a security prompt — click "More info" and then "Run anyway." This is normal for new applications.
Step 3: Choose Your Backup Mode
You'll see two simple options:
- **Backup Now**: Make a copy of your current chats right away.
- **Restore**: Bring back a previous backup.
That's literally it. No configuration wizard, no complex settings.

For Windows Users
1. **Download** the installer from the link above.
2. **Run** the downloaded file. Follow any on-screen prompts — just click "Next" and "Install" if asked.
3. **Launch** claude-vault from your Start Menu or desktop shortcut.
The whole process takes about two minutes.
For macOS Users
1. **Download** the .dmg file from the link above.
2. **Open** the downloaded file and drag the claude-vault icon to your Applications folder.
3. **Open** claude-vault from your Applications folder. If macOS warns you, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Open Anyway.
For Linux Users
1. **Download** the AppImage or .deb file from the link above.
2. **Make it executable** (right-click → Properties → Permissions → Allow executing as program).
3. **Double-click** to run, or for .deb files, just double-click to install.
