*A finished host: Herdr lists the workspaces and agents on the left, and omp agents work side by side.*
Features
- **Firstmate orchestration:** one supervisor agent runs many coding agents.
- **Web pages from anywhere:** one password opens agent pages and previews (opt-in).
- **Custom Herdr sidebar:** every workspace and agent, with state and load, at a glance.
- **In-memory message board:** agents on one host talk over topics, not disk (opt-in).
- **Guards:** block pkill, gate quality, and clean up stray containers and dev servers.
- **Browser ladder:** a light browser first, full Chrome or noVNC when needed (opt-in).
- **Chat clients:** Discord, Slack, and iMessage from the terminal (opt-in).
- **Credentials:** one super.env file, fetched by each new host via a private Worker.
- **Mac control:** JARVIS-style, agents run ssh mac to control apps on your Mac (opt-in).
The other features, each with its docs link, are listed in docs/features.md.
Quick start
1. **Machine:** Ubuntu 24.04 or 26.04 server from any VPS (e.g. Hetzner) or a spare box, 4 vCPU / 16 GB and up; see Capacity.
2. **Paste:** this into your coding agent or omp on the machine. It installs Crewship and sets it up with you:
3. **Update:** run bunx crewship update (npx crewship update and pnpm dlx crewship update work too), or the same install command again
Prefer to do it by hand? bunx crewship installs the core (omp agents and Firstmate) and, in a terminal, shows one checklist of the opt-in features, including the public skills. Skip it with --with docker, chat (--with none for the core only). The installer commands are in SETUP.md; the wiki has the rest.
How it works
For how a host gets set up, see the setup flow. This is what runs on a finished host, and how its parts connect is in Architecture:
Repository layout
- blueprint/: what provisions a host: the Ansible playbook, seeds, skills, and guards.
- apps/: services Crewship runs: crew board, iMessage bridge, and secrets Worker.
- tools/: stand-alone helpers: the crewship launcher, herdr-patch, and dia-debug.
- scripts/: the ship.sh CLI code, the release artifact build, and secrets helpers.
