The Model Context Protocol is the open standard for connecting AI
assistants to tools and data. This repository is two things:
1. **A directory** — a categorized list of MCP servers the community has built and shipped. Every hosted server is sent a real MCP handshake each night, and the site shows which ones answered, which need auth, how many tools they expose and how much context those tools cost.
2. **A teaching repo** — small, readable server implementations in Python you can clone, run, and copy from.

Servers built by the community, alphabetical within each category. This list is generated from the files in servers/; for live status, tool counts and one-line install commands, use the site.
A listing is not a security review. Read a server's source and permissions before you connect it.
