AI PDF summarisers you can use for free

Give a PDF to an AI and ask for the conclusion first, then a section-by-section summary. These six tools read documents or summarise them; every link goes to the tool's own site.

Tools you can use

Free allowance and page limits follow each site's terms; we did not capture those numbers per site.

How to choose

  • One or two documents: start with the free-tier ones (Zhiwo AI, iFlytek Document Q&A).
  • Long reports and papers: pick tools with long-document or chunked upload (Kimi, Evernote); a single huge paste gets truncated.
  • Contracts and sensitive files: redact names, amounts, IDs and phone numbers before uploading.

A copyable three-part summary prompt

You are my document assistant. Read this PDF and answer in three parts: 1) a one-sentence conclusion (under 30 words); 2) a section-by-section summary (2-3 sentences each, with page or section numbers); 3) three numbers or clauses I should verify. Do not invent anything not in the text; write “not stated” when it is missing.

Add one more line: “List the tables and figures in this document and summarise each one.” That is usually more accurate than one big summary.
